Sarah's personal experience improving her Acne, in her own words.
Sarah recently sent me before and after images of her skin and the improvements in her Acne. I asked her to tell you, in her own words, what that experience has been and I am grateful to her, for taking her precious time to help others who might be suffering the same. Below is Sarah's unedited account of her journey to calmer, clearer skin...
My skin is and has always been incredibly oily in all areas, prone to blackheads/whiteheads, very angry and deep spots, uneven texture and colour, and generally very irritated (especially around my nose, chin and forehead area).
I have always ‘looked after’ my skin and tried most of the brands on the market who claim to address my skin needs, to no success. I can’t tell you how depressing it is when your skin doesn’t look and feel good, as people tend to think you’re ‘dirty’ or lazy and that you don’t look after your skin properly. I am an avid gym goer and I was always awkward about going without any makeup on as I felt people would stare.
In the past I have used cleansing waters, drying face washes, facial soaps, facial oils, skin treatments, you name it, I have probably tried it! I had no ‘set’ routine and would jump from product to product, month after month, because nothing seemed to work.
The issue is, especially as a young adult, you do not have an unlimited budget to try expensive skincare brands or to continually buy different products and that can be very limiting. The unfortunate thing is that many of the easy to access brand’s products are filled with poor ingredients and are misleading to the consumer. I have always tried to do my research but It is like a mind-field to navigate.
I heard of Merumaya through Caroline Hiron’s blog and decided to give it a go. The prices are reasonable and the product size is good. I contacted Maleka through the Facebook page and she was more than happy to help with a new routine. I now use the Melting Cleansing Balm (1st cleanse) (which I use with the facial cloths) and then the Luxury Facial Wash (second cleanse), this removes all my makeup. AM, I use the Iconic Youth Serum, then the Youth Preservation Moisturiser SPF 20. PM, I use the same two cleansers and then the Gentle Exfoliating Toner, the Intensely Youthful Eye Cream and the Retinol Resurfacing Treatment. I can’t tell you how much my skin has improved over the period of a month. As you can see by the pictures the redness has gone down, my skin has improved textually overall. My spots are much less red when they do come and go down quicker. The pictures speak for themselves.
